IT Department Mandatory Security Requirement
Pacific Debt Relief is implementing Bitwarden Enterprise as our official password management solution for the IT Department.
This is a mandatory security requirement, not optional.
Why This Matters
We are currently undergoing a security audit that requires:
- Centralized management of all service accounts and shared credentials
- Enterprise-grade password security with policy enforcement
- Secure credential sharing (no more passwords in Slack, email, or sticky notes)
Bitwarden addresses all of these requirements and is now our standard.
What You Need to Do
Step 1: Accept Your Invitation
1. Check your email for "Bitwarden Invitation"
2. Click the link and create your account
3. Create your Master Password following these requirements:
Master Password Requirements:
- Minimum 14 characters
- Must include: uppercase, lowercase, numbers, special characters
- Example: Pacific!Debt@Relief2026#Secure
💡 This is the ONE password you'll use daily - make it memorable but strong
Step 2: Install the Browser Extension (5 Minutes)
4. Go to: bitwarden.com/download
5. Install the extension for Chrome
6. Log in with your master password
Step 3: Export your existing Passwords
- Open Chrome and go to Settings (or type https://passwords.google.com/)
- Click the Settings gear icon (⚙️) in the top right
- Click "Export" beside Export passwords
- Enter your computer password when prompted
- Save the CSV file to a secure location (e.g., your Downloads folder)
Step 4: Import your Passwords to Bitwarden
- Click the Bitwarden icon in your Chrome toolbar and log in
- Click Settings (gear icon ⚙️) at the bottom
- Click Vault options
Select (Pacific Debt Inc.) in Vault and select (My items) in Collection.
- In Data File format select Chrome
- Click Choose File and select your exported CSV file in Downloads folder
- Click Import
⚠️ DELETE the CSV file immediately (for security)
💡 Quick Tips:
- Import may take a minute if you have many passwords
- Review your vault after import to verify everything looks correct
Step 5: Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)
REQUIRED within 7 days
8. Open Bitwarden → Settings → Security → Two-step Login
9. Select "Authenticator App"
10. Scan the QR code with Microsoft Authenticator (you already have this for Entra)
11. Enter the 6-digit code to verify
⚠️ This is a mandatory security requirement
Key Points to Remember:
• Your master password is the only password you need to remember
• Bitwarden will securely store all your other passwords
• Never share your master password with anyone, including IT staff
• This is a security audit requirement - compliance is mandatory
Thank you for your cooperation in maintaining our security standards.
