What is 2-Step Verification (2SV)?

2-Step Verification adds an extra layer of security to your Google account. After entering your password, you verify your identity using a second method—like a code sent to your phone or a prompt from the Google app.

How to Activate 2-Step Verification

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Sign in to Your Google Account

   • Go to https://myaccount.google.com

   • Enter your email and password.

2. Open Security Settings

   • On the left-hand menu, click Security

   • Scroll down to 2-Step Verification and click it.

3. Start Setup

   • Click Turn On 2-Step Verification

   • Re-enter your password if prompted.

   • Enter your phone number and click Next

   • Follow the prompts until you see the confirmation that you’re all set.

4. Sign in with Your Password One More Time

   • You will be asked for a code sent to your phone.

   • (Optional) Check Do not ask for the code again to mark this browser as trusted.

Tips

• If you sign in from a new device or browser, or clear your browser cookies, a code will be required again.

• You can add additional verification methods via your Google Account portal to enhance security.
